Changchun is a beautiful modern city, located to
the northeast of Beijing, in the heart of the Northeast
China Plain. Founded in 1800, it now has an urban
population of about 3 million. Lying in the temperate
zone, Changchun is neither too hot nor too cold,
with four distinct seasons and an annual average
temperature of 5.2°C
As a transportation hub of Northeast China, railways,
expressways, and airlines dart out far and wide
in all directions. Nonstop flights to Seoul, Sendai,
Hong Kong, and other metropolitan areas are very
convenient for visitors. A well developed local
traffic system, including bus, trolley, and light-rail
can take you to every corner of the city.
Changchun is a paradise for gourmand. Restaurants
and eateries are everywhere, offering various
styles of cuisine, northern or southern, Oriental
or Western. Supermarkets and shopping centers,
large and small, exist side by side in the streets;
you should not be surprised to find a Wal-Mart
towering among them.
Jingyue
Tan (Crystal Moon Pond) to the southeast of the
city is known for its artificial forest area,
the largest in Asia and a national resort with
perfect ecological environment. The last emperor
of the Qing Dynasty built his palace in Changchun,
which is one of the three imperial palaces still
remaining in China. Other scenic spots include
the placid Nan Hu (South Lake), winter skiing
resort within 3 hours of drive, etc. You will
find the beauty and elegance of Changchun attractive
and inviting.
