Jilin University is a national key comprehensive university under the direct administration of Ministry of Education in China. It was founded in 1946, and is granted as one of the national "Project 211" "Project 985" and the first batch of "Double World-class Initiative" universities.

Jilin University is located in Changchun, Jilin Province and has 7 campuses in six districts. It offers a wide range of disciplines, covering 48 schools/colleges in nine faculties, namely, Faculty of Arts and Humanities, Social Sciences, Sciences, Engineering, Information Sciences, Earth Sciences, Medical Sciences, Agriculture and Interdisciplinary Studies. The ESI ranking of 20 disciplines (fields) is in the top 1% in the world, of which 5 disciplines are ranked in the top 1‰ in the world, 1 discipline is ranked in the top 1‱in the world.

Jilin University has a faculty with 6,279 full-time teaching staff, 2,533 professors included. There are currently 76,142 enrolled students.
