JLU shines at iENA 2024 in Nuremberg

2024-11-04

Jilin University (JLU) earned outstanding recognition for its innovative projects at the 76th International Exhibition of Inventions Nuremberg (iENA).

Founded in 1948, iENA Nuremberg is one of the world’s top three invention exhibitions. This year, the event showcased over 500 projects from 30 countries and regions.

The team led by professors ZHAO Hongwei and MA Zhichao from JLU achieved a gold medal for their project – In-situ material composite stress high-temperature fatigue performance tester, and a silver medal for the project of Static and dynamic micro/nano mechanical in-situ tester.

The first project focuses on key technologies, such as mechanical stress reconstruction under complex conditions. It introduces methods for calibrating material performance parameters and decoupling deformation behavior vectors, leading to the development of a “multi-spectral source parameter” in-situ testing technique.

The second project represents a breakthrough in electromagnetic-piezoelectric dual-source coupling technology. It allows for the measurement of dynamic mechanical properties at the microscale, unveiling microscopic failure mechanisms in materials. These advancements have been applied to assess the mechanical properties of critical materials for domestic large aircraft and energy power sectors.

The Chinese delegation presented over 90 innovative projects, with significant contributions from Chinese top universities, research institutions, medical institutes and innovative enterprises.
