Professor Tomoki Ogoshi attends Dingxin Lecture at JLU

2024-10-11

Professor Tomoki Ogoshi, a renowned Japanese organic and supramolecular chemist, was invited to deliver a lecture as part of Dingxin Lecture Series at Jilin University (JLU) on Oct 9, 2024.

Titled Supramolecular Assemblies and Systems Based on Pillar-Shaped Macrocyclic Compounds Pillar[n]arenes, Professor Tomoki Ogoshi’s lecture was hosted by JLU President ZHANG Xi, who also presented him with a commemorative plaque for the Dingxin Lecture Series.

Professor Tomoki Ogoshi offered a comprehensive yet accessible introduction to the supramolecular chemistry of “pillar[n]arenes”. He shared the discovery journey of pillar[n]arenes, emphasizing that scientific breakthroughs often stem from meticulous observation and relentless exploration. He also highlighted his research team’s innovative achievements in the functionalization, assembly, and chiral control of pillar[n]arenes.

During the interactive session, he answered questions from faculty and students, discussing the future development of pillar[n]arenes and inspiring the audience with fresh perspectives.

The lecture, hosted by the Jilin University Association for Science and Technology and organized by the State Key Laboratory of Supramolecular Structure and Materials, attracted attendees from the College of Chemistry, the College of Life Sciences, and the School of Materials Science and Engineering.
