The research group of YANG Xinyi, led by ZOU Bo’s team, from the State Key Laboratory of Superhard Materials, College of Physics, Jilin University (JLU), published an article in Nature Communications on Sept 5, 2024.

The primary author is Dr. YANG Qing, while Professors YANG Xinyi and ZOU Bo are the corresponding authors.
The article, Brightening triplet excitons enable high-performance white-light emission in organic small molecules via integrating n-π*/π-π* transitions, demonstrated the group’s significant progress in achieving high-performance white-light emission based on hybrid fluorescence and phosphorescence.
Organic room-temperature phosphorescent materials based on triplet exciton emission have broad application prospects in fields such as optoelectronics, anti-counterfeiting labeling and information encryption.
The group carried out pressure treatment engineering via the hydrogen bonding cooperativity effect, realizing high-performance white-light emission based on hybrid fluorescence and phosphorescence in heavy atom-free isophthalic acid (IPA) materials, providing an effective strategy for the design and development of high-performance phosphorescent materials.

The research was also supported by the Center for High Pressure Science and Technology Advanced Research in Beijing, the Wuhan National High Magnetic Field Center and School of Physics, the J-PARC Center in Japan, and the China Academy of Engineering Physics.
