ZHANG Xi, president of Jilin University (JLU), met with Professor Chris D. Rudd, president of James Cook University's Singapore campus (JCU Singapore), on May 8, 2023.

ZHANG appreciated Rudd's significant contributions to JLU and presented him with the medal and the certificate of 2020 Chinese Government Friendship Award.

In his remarks, ZHANG emphasized JLU's commitment to expanding international partnerships and expressed hope for deeper collaboration with JCU Singapore, focusing on fostering communication and cooperation talents.

Rudd shared an overview of JCU Singapore, highlighting its distinctive educational approach, and expressed optimism for future joint initiatives between JLU and the campus.

As vice-president of the International Society of Bionic Engineering, Rudd specializes in research on mechanical engineering, particularly developing lightweight structural manufacturing technologies. His work includes exploring the use of absorbable enhanced fibers as a substitute for synthetic bone materials.
