On September 16, Zhang Xi met with representatives from overseas universities who came to Jilin University (JLU) for the university’s 80th Anniversary Ceremony. The attendees renewed their friendship, reviewed the outcomes of cooperation, and conducted in-depth exchanges of views on topics such as talent cultivation, faculty and student exchanges, and scientific research collaboration, jointly exploring new pathways for future cooperation and development.
Zhang Xi extended a warm welcome to all the representatives and expressed gratitude to the partner universities for their long-standing support for JLU’s development. He noted that the 80th anniversary of the university is an important milestone for the university to review its past achievements and plan for its future direction. The university will continue to deepen its openness in international education, continuously expand faculty and student exchanges, joint education programs, and academic and research cooperation, enhance the effectiveness of cooperation, and jointly cultivate high-level talents.
The representatives from overseas universities present expressed their sincere congratulations on the 80th anniversary of JLU. They highly commended JLU’s achievements in education, reviewed the long-standing friendly exchanges between their universities and JLU, and expressed the hope that, taking this anniversary as a new starting point, they would learn from each other’s advanced experience in running universities, continuously elevate inter-university cooperation to new levels, and jointly contribute to the advancement of global higher education.
Foreign representatives attending the meeting included Fausto Giunchiglia, Foreign Member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Fellow of the Academia Europaea; Charl FJ Faul, Associate Pro Vice-Chancellor (Global Engagement) of University of Bristol, UK; Maurizio Marchese, Vice Rector for International Relationship of University of Trento, Italy; Patricio Conejero Ortiz, Vice President of International Affairs of Universidad de Buenos Aires, Argentina and Director of Confucius Institute; Kim Seonjung, Vice President of Keimyung University, Republic of Korea; Solovyev Mikhail, Vice Rector of Tomsk Polytechnic University, Russia; and Buzhilova Alexandra Petrovna, Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences and Director of the Institute of Anthropology and Anthropological Museum at Lomonosov Moscow State University.
Relevant personnel from the JLU Office of Global Engagement, Library, School of Archaeology, College of Physics, College of Chemistry, and Norman Bethune Second School of Clinical Medicine attended the meeting.
