September 26, 2025 – Jilin University (JLU) convened a grand gathering at its Nanling Campus to mark the 70th anniversary of its engineering disciplines and what was formely Jilin University of Technology. The celebration was attended by distinguished guests including JLU alumnus Chen Xiaoguang, Vice Chairman of the 12th and 13th National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference; Wang Zilian, Vice Governor of Jilin Province; and Gu Gang, Mayor of Changchun; Tian Hui, Secretary of the CPC Jilin University Committee, and JLU President Zhang Xi; amongst many other distinguished guests.

JLU President Zhang Xi underscored the 70-year contribution of Jilin University's engineering disciplines in supplying top-tier talent for China’s modernization in various industries. Facing the future, he committed to cultivating innovative engineers capable of solving complex problems, strengthening the faculty, and advancing research in line with national strategies and global frontiers to foster new productive forces.

He confidently shared that JLU engineering disciplines have a great foundation and strong academic leadership.

Provincial and municipal leaders commended JLU as a flagship institution, expressing their hopes for it to cultivate a new generation of talent and contribute further to the revitalization of Jilin Province. Alumni representatives fondly recalled their student days at JLU, urging the community to remain grounded while improving outcomes that serve national priorities, meet industrial demands, and set new global standards.

The event also featured the launch of the "Jilin University Guo Konghui Education Fund".
