Fashion carries culture, and communication builds bridges between civilizations. On September 20, the 2nd International Forum on Fashion Culture Communication in Northeast Asia was successfully held in Changchun.

Guided by the Jilin Provincial Publicity Department, the forum was jointly organized by the Advertising and Culture Research Center of Jilin University (JLU), the Jilin Provincial Research Base for Deep Integration of Media Development, and Jilin Province Peak Fire Culture Media Co., Ltd. The event brought together scholars from leading domestic and international institutions—including Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Xiamen University, Communication University of China, Peking University, Jilin University, Northeast Normal University, Michigan State University, the University of Amsterdam, and the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona—alongside industry experts from Beijing Daily Group, Shanghai United Media Group, Sichuan Daily Press Group, and Shanxi Publishing Media Group. Together, they engaged in in-depth discussions on emerging issues in fashion culture communication.

At the opening ceremony, speeches were delivered by He Yingchun, Senior Director of the Jilin Provincial Publicity Department; Ding Shihai, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Jilin University Committee; and Jiang Ming, Vice Dean of the JLU School of Humanities and Journalism and Communication. Their remarks provided direction and built consensus for the forum. Liu Mingzheng, Vice Dean of the JLU School of Humanities and Journalism and Communication, presided over the ceremony.

The keynote session was divided into two parts, during which experts and scholars presented cutting-edge research that balanced theoretical insight with practical application. Topics included the preservation of intangible cultural heritage, international communication, historical memory, consumer behavior, cross-border scholarship, and industry innovation.

The forum also featured four specialized sub-forums, inviting editors-in-chief and editorial board members from prominent domestic and international academic journals—such as Journalism & Communication, Modern Communication, Contemporary Cinema, Journalism Review, News and Writing, Journalism and Mass Communication Monthly, Editorial Friend, and Contemporary Animation—to review submitted papers. These experts offered detailed guidance on academic writing and publication strategies, helping to strengthen the scholarly competencies of young researchers.

As a significant academic event in the field of fashion culture communication across Northeast Asia, the forum established a robust platform for dialogue between domestic and international experts, collaboration between academia and industry, and the development of emerging scholars. Moving forward, the insights and outcomes generated at the forum will be transformed into practical momentum for advancing fashion culture communication in Northeast Asia—promoting the integration of regional cultural resources, enhancing international visibility, and contributing fresh cultural vitality to mutual learning and the high-quality development of civilizations in the region.
