On December 8, Tian Hui, Secretary of the CPC Jilin University Committee, visited and extended greetings to Prof. Fausto Giunchiglia, newly elected Foreign Member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Prof. Pavel Talalay, newly elected Foreign Member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering.

Tian Hui warmly congratulated the two professors on their election as Foreign Members of the two Academies and expressed sincere appreciation for their significant contributions to the development of Jilin University. He noted that since joining the university, both professors have devoted themselves to talent cultivation, actively engaged in scientific research, and helped establish high-level platforms, making important contributions in talent development, technological innovation, and collaborative exchange.

Jilin University is currently at a historic juncture, completing the final stages of the 14th Five-Year Plan and formulating the 15th. It is also at a critical phase in advancing breakthroughs and accelerating the construction of a world-class university with Chinese characteristics. Building such a university requires the collective effort and collaboration of the entire university community, and especially the guidance, leadership, and strong support of strategic scientists. The university will continue to pursue a talent-driven strategy, providing favorable working and living conditions for experts and scholars. It is hoped that the two professors will continue to strive for excellence, focusing on cultivating young talent, addressing key technological challenges, and enhancing international cooperation and exchange, thereby contributing to the university’s vision of becoming an innovation hub that attracts global expertise.

Prof. Fausto Giunchiglia and Prof. Pavel Talalay expressed their gratitude to the university for its care, support, and strong backing. They shared achievements and unique insights from their respective fields, offering suggestions on advancing cutting-edge scientific research, building international platforms, attracting and nurturing top-tier talent, and promoting interdisciplinary integration. They affirmed that they would treat this as a new starting point, leading their teams to further deepen research, strive for high-level results, cultivate more internationally oriented, high-caliber talent, and contribute their intellectual expertise to the university's high-quality development.
