Five teams from Jilin University (JLU) delivered exceptional performances at the 2024 International Genetically Engineered Machine (iGEM) Competition, winning three gold medals, two silver medals, and five nominations for best project awards.






Held in Paris, France, the 2024 iGEM Grand Jamboree brought together over 5,000 participants from more than 50 countries, with 438 teams vying for top honors.
JLU’s CJUH-JLU-China team, guided by the Norman Bethune Third School of Clinical Medicine, won a gold medal and received five nominations for the best project award.
The JLU-NBBMS team, mentored by the College of Basic Medical Sciences, and the JLU-CP team, jointly supported by the College of Computer Science and Technology and the School of Public Health, each earned a gold medal.
Meanwhile, the JLU-China team, organized by the College of Chemistry, and the Jilin-China team, led by the College of Life Sciences, secured silver medals.
Widely regarded as the world's leading science and technology competition for university students, the iGEM Competition provides a platform for innovation and collaboration in synthetic biology.
Since its participation in the event in 2014, JLU has consistently demonstrated excellence. It earned its first gold medal in 2016 and achieved an impressive streak of seven consecutive golds from 2018 to 2024.
