JLU delegation visits Japan

A delegation from Jilin University (JLU) visited Japan on May 23-25 in search of deeper collaboration with local universities.

It was led by FENG Zhengyu, Executive Vice Chairman of the University Council, JLU.

The JLU delegation visited Kyushu University, Seinan Gakuin University and the Chinese Consulate-General in Fukuoka, as well as attended the fifth meeting of the third JLU Alumni Association of Japan and its election assembly in Tokyo.

At Kyushu University, FENG met with its Vice President Kenji Iwata as well as Research Professor Shuji Shimizu. FENG highlighted the alignment between Kyushu University’s “Vision 2030” and JLU’s “Double World-Class” Initiative, hoping for broader cooperation across disciplines.

At Seinan Gakuin University, FENG met its president Naoki Imai. They reviewed a long-standing partnership and discussed future collaboration in humanities, social sciences, talent development and community service.

During the visit to the Chinese Consulate-General in Fukuoka, Consul General YANG Qingdong encouraged continued practical cooperation between JLU and Japanese universities.

On May 25, 2024, FENG attended the JLU alumni election assembly in Tokyo, where he thanked the alumni for their support and encouraged their continued efforts in fostering China-Japan relations.

The assembly concluded with ZHANG Xiaoguang being elected as the new president of the fourth JLU Alumni Association of Japan.
