JIANG Zhiying, Chairman of the University Council, Jilin University (JLU), attended the first Belt and Road Conference on Science and Technology Exchange in Southwest China's Chongqing municipality on Nov 6-7, 2023.

Themed "Together for Innovation, Development for All", the conference focused on inter-governmental sci-tech cooperation, people-to-people exchanges, industrial innovative development, future medicine, open science and big data, and advancements in science and technology innovation.

JIANG was invited to participate in the conference and held a working meeting with CHEN Mingbo, executive vice-mayor of Chongqing.

JIANG toured the JLU Chongqing Research Institute, focusing on maximizing the university's scientific and educational strengths, solidifying the achievements of university-region partnerships, and advancing the institute's high-quality development.

He conducted on-site inspections of key laboratories and innovation platforms specializing in smart technologies and received briefings on their progress. JIANG commended the institute's achievements and hoped its intellectual resources would continue to drive innovation and development.

JIANG also engaged in discussions with officials from Chongqing's Liangjiang New Area government and representatives from local enterprises, expressing gratitude for their support in transforming the institute's scientific and technological breakthroughs.

He emphasized that future cooperation should fully utilize global science and education resources, integrate JLU's disciplinary strengths with Chongqing's modern manufacturing clusters, and promote industrial development in the Liangjiang New Area.
