ZHANG Xi, President of Jilin University (JLU), led a delegation to the University of Münster in Germany on Nov 1-3, 2023.
During the visit, the delegation attended the bilateral symposium on molecules and materials held at the University of Münster and participated in the Münster young scholar exchange.
ZHANG met with Johannes Wessels, rector of the University of Münster, and expressed a desire to expand cooperation in fields of chemistry, physics, mathematics, life sciences, geosciences, philosophy, law, medicine, and zoonotic diseases.
Both sides reached a consensus on continuing to organize bilateral seminars, promote joint doctoral programs, and advance interdisciplinary research in cutting-edge scientific areas.
At the opening ceremony of the bilateral symposium, ZHANG expressed hope that participants would collaborate and learn from one another in their scientific research to solve critical issues.
Five scholars from JLU's College of Chemistry, College of Physics, and the State Key Laboratory of Supramolecular Structure and Materials, along with five scholars from the University of Münster, including Bart Jan Ravoo, co-director of the Center for Soft Nanoscience (SoN), presented reports on the latest research progress in molecules and materials.
The delegation also attended the Münster young scholar exchange, where ZHANG encouraged young scholars passionate about higher education and scientific research to consider joining JLU to jointly promote technological advancement.
