JIANG Zhiying, Chairman of the University Council, Jilin University (JLU), met with Patricio Conejero Ortiz, Vice President for International Affairs of the University of Buenos Aires (UBA), on Aug 4, 2023, at JLU.

JIANG expressed hope for expanding collaboration between the two universities in humanities, social sciences, medicine, and agriculture. He highlighted the importance of creating broader exchange platforms for Chinese and Argentine students and faculty through joint student programs, faculty exchange, and research cooperation.

Conejero expressed his desire to strengthen ties between the universities and foster collaboration in areas such as talent development and scientific research.

Founded in 1821, the University of Buenos Aires is one of Latin America's leading universities, having produced five Nobel laureates and 17 Argentine presidents. In May 2008, JLU and the University of Buenos Aires signed an agreement to jointly establish a Confucius Institute which teaches Chinese and promotes Chinese culture.
