JLU delegation visits Japanese universities and JLUAAJ

FENG Zhengyu, Executive Vice Chairman of the University Council, Jilin University (JLU), led a delegation to Japan from May 23 to 27, 2023.

The delegation toured three Japanese universities – Doshisha University, Chiba University, and Waseda University.

At Doshisha University, the delegation met with Atarashi Shigeyuki, then executive dean of the Organization for the Promotion of Global Cooperation. They discussed opportunities for deeper collaboration, including faculty and student exchanges and joint research initiatives.

At Chiba University, the delegation engaged in discussions with Vice-President Makoto Watanabe and his colleagues. The two sides agreed to focus on expanding cooperation in key areas such as medicine and industrial design.

The delegation's visit to Waseda University included a meeting with Vice-President Masahiko Gemma and other senior officials. Both sides agreed to renew their exchange agreement. They shared successful experiences and discussed alumni association operations, management of educational funds, and talent evaluation systems.

FENG also visited the Jilin University Alumni Association in Japan (JLUAAJ) and the JLU-Japan Business Club (JJBC). He attended the JLUAAJ board meeting and alumni forum, where he engaged with alumni and entrepreneurs on how to strengthen cooperation between JLU and Japanese enterprises in areas such as science, education, and culture.

Founded in 2010, the JLUAAJ currently has over 340 registered members and plays a key role in enhancing JLU's presence and influence in Japan. It established JJBC in 2017, which is the first business organization of its kind formed by Chinese university alumni in Japan. It is dedicated to fostering commercial collaboration among JLU’s alumni in Japan.
