Leonid Eduardovich Slutsky, Chairman of International Affairs of Russia State Duma visited Jilin University (JLU) on Aug 26. JLU President ZHANG Xi extended a warm welcome to Slutsky.

ZHANG acknowledged Slutsky’s contributions as an honorary professor of the university over the past six years in promoting Sino-Russian exchanges and deepening collaboration between JLU and Russian universities.

He expressed hopes for future initiatives that enhance mutual historical and cultural understanding among the youth of both nations, thereby strengthening the bridge of Sino-Russian friendship.  

Slutsky conveyed his sincere gratitude for the hospitality and emphasized his commitment to boosting JLU’s international profile through practical measures such as expanding joint student programs and scientific research cooperation, injecting new momentum into bilateral people-to-people exchanges and relations.

Following the meeting, Slutsky delivered an academic lecture focusing on the roles of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and BRICS in the development of a multipolar world.
