A team led by Professor HAN Wei from the College of Physics of Jilin University (JLU), in collaboration with teams led by Professor WANG Lili from the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Professor SUN Ziqi from the Queensland University of Technology, has proposed the concept of a Capacitance-Enhanced Battery (CEB).

This novel concept integrates the high energy density of traditional batteries with the rapid charge/discharge kinetics of supercapacitors. The findings underscore the transformative potential of CEBs and establish dual-mechanism electrodes for next-generation energy storage systems.

The related findings, entitled Capacitance-Enhanced Battery: Integrating High-Density Battery Capacity with Supercapacitive Swiftness in an Ultra-Large MXene Architecture, were published in Advanced Materials on July 30.
