Professor SUN Junqi from the State Key Laboratory of Supramolecular Structures and Materials at Jilin University (JLU) recently led his team to develop a novel poly (urea- urethane) plastic that demonstrates superior impact resistance, high strength, and exceptional toughness even in extremely cold environments. 

The research paves a new pathway for creating polymer materials designed for extreme conditions. This class of material shows broad application potential in fields such as aerospace, deep-space exploration, and polar research.​

The related findings, entitled Ultra-Tough Poly (Urea-Urethane) Plastics with Superior Impact Resistance for Cryogenic Applications, have been published in Advanced Materials. Doctoral student WANG Wenjie is the first author of the paper, while Professor SUN Junqi is the corresponding author.
