Julius Rebek Jr. delivers lecture at JLU

2024-10-25

Julius Rebek Jr., Academician of the National Academy of Sciences in the United States, was invited to talk at Jilin University (JLU) on Oct 21, 2024 as part of the Dingxin Lecture Series.

The lecture, titled Molecular Assembly and Encapsulation Chemistry in Small Space, was chaired by JLU President ZHANG Xi, who also presented Professor Rebek with the “Dingxin Lecture Commemorative Plaque”.

President ZHANG welcomed Professor Rebek and expressed gratitude for his significant contributions to advancing China-US collaboration in supramolecular chemistry and talent development.

In his lecture, Professor Rebek began with the assembly of simple dimers, delving into the design of molecular structures and demonstrating how these are applied to areas such as chiral recognition and supramolecular catalysis. His presentation showcased the precise control of micro- and nanoscale cavities and offered valuable insights into how to conduct systematic academic research.

The lecture was hosted by the Jilin University Association for Science and Technology and organized by the State Key Laboratory of Supramolecular Structure and Materials. Faculty and students from the College of Chemistry, College of Life Sciences, and other departments attended.
