JIANG Zhiying, Chairman of the University Council, Jilin University (JLU), led a delegation to Republic of Korea (ROK) from June 14 to 17, 2024 to visit Korea University and Hanyang University, promoting cooperation between JLU and higher education institutions in ROK.

At Korea University, JLU’s delegation had an exchange with Yoo Hyuk, Executive Vice President of Research at the university, and Song Sang-kee, Vice President of International Affairs at the university, among others.

JIANG underlined that JLU and Korea University have a long and rich history of cooperation. For example, the first China-ROK University Presidents Forum was initiated through their combined efforts and has been held 13 time, becoming a vital channel for people-to-people and cultural exchange between China and ROK.

He also expressed his hope for deeper and broader collaboration on talent cultivation and introduction between the two sides, attaching importance to the advancement of cutting-edge scientific exploration and interdisciplinary research.

During the visit to Hanyang University, witnessed by Chinese Minister of Education HUAI Jinpeng, Chinese Ambassador to ROK XING Haiming, and Chairman of Hanyang University KIM Jong-ryang, JIANG and President of Hanyang University LEE Ki-jeong jointly signed the Memorandum of Understanding between Jilin University, China and Hanyang University, ROK on Jointly Building China-ROK International Cooperation Platform for Digital Education, reaching a consensus on enhancing cooperation in digital education.

JIANG highlighted the broad scope of collaboration between the two universities, particularly noting the significant achievements in the joint establishment of the Confucius Institute and youth exchange programs. LEE also emphasized the desire for enhanced collaboration in digital education and scientific research.

JIANG toured the Confucius Institute at Hanyang University and met with Chinese students studying in ROK, encouraging them to continue their efforts and contribute to cultural exchanges between the two countries.
