The Jilin University’s Journal of Bionic Engineering has reached a significant milestone.
That’s according to the 2023 Journal Citation Reports or JCR, released on June 20, 2024 by the globally recognized UK-US analytics firm Clarivate Plc.
The journal, led by Prof. REN Luquan, Editor-in-Chief and Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, boasts an impressive JCR impact factor of 4.9, a 22.5-percent increase from the previous year.

The achievement places the journal in the first quartile in Q1 of the JCR categories for Engineering: Multidisciplinary and Robotics, highlighting its influence in the field of bionics.
Established in 2004, the Journal of Bionic Engineering focuses on groundbreaking research in bionics and serves as a key platform for international scholarly exchanges.
The journal’s editorial board includes 88 prominent bionics experts from 22 countries, featuring members of prestigious institutions like the Royal Society and China’s academies.
It has been recognized in several national exhibitions and funding programs and has been named one of China’s top international journals for 12 consecutive years.
Additionally, it won the Most Beautiful Journal Cover award from the China Association for Science and Technology in 2023.
