On June 19, 2024, Prof. ZHANG Xi, President of Jilin University and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, met with Prof. Sergey V. Gaponenko, Director of the Stepanov Institute of Physics at the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, and Prof. Vladimir N. Belyi, Head of the Optical Diagnostics Systems Center at the university. 

ZHANG welcomed the Belarusian delegation during the meeting and introduced the university’s history, educational strengths, and key disciplines. He emphasized the importance of the International Cooperation Joint Laboratory for Future Science as a platform for international collaboration and interdisciplinary research. ZHANG expressed the university’s strong support for the cooperation between the laboratory and the Stepanov Institute of Physics and welcomed more Belarusian experts to engage with Jilin University’s faculty and students.

Gaponenko praised Jilin University’s achievements and the progress of their collaboration. He expressed hope that the Stepanov Institute of Physics will become a significant partner of Jilin University, fostering joint research between Chinese and Belarusian scholars and achieving fruitful outcomes.

The meeting was attended by relevant officials from the university’s Office of Global Engagement, International Center of Future Science, and the State Key Joint Laboratory of Integrated Optoelectronics.
