JLU Executive Vice President Prof. CAI Lidong leads delegation to Belarus

From June 24 to 27, 2024, Prof. CAI Lidong, Executive Vice President of Jilin University (JLU), led a delegation to visit Belarus.

During the visit, CAI attended the China-Belarus High-Level University Presidents Forum hosted by Peking University and Belarusian State University. Representatives from 41 universities in China and Belarus participated in the forum.

Andrei I. Ivanets, Belarusian Minister of Education, CHEN Jie, Chinese Vice Minister of Education, XIE Xiaoyong, Chinese Ambassador to Belarus, and HAO Ping, Chairman of the University Council, Peking University, delivered speeches at the opening ceremony.

CAI spoke at the sub-forum on “Prospects for Future Cooperation between Chinese and Belarusian Universities”, highlighting the joint training of innovative talent and deepening high-level cooperation.

He outlined Jilin University’s profile and its exchanges with Belarus and proposed innovative cooperation in scientific research, international industry-academia-research integration, postdoctoral research, and joint talent training.

On the morning of June 25th, President Alexander Lukashenko of the Republic of Belarus met with representatives of Chinese universities.

JLU delegation also visited the B.I. Stepanov Institute of Physics at the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, where they met with Director Sergey Gaponenko. CAI expressed a desire to use the university’s International Center of Future Science to enhance exchanges and cooperation, while Gaponenko affirmed the institute’s commitment to collaborative innovation and joint research.

At visit to Belarusian State Medical University, the delegation agreed to establish a long-term inter-university cooperation relationship to advance medical education and research through faculty and student exchanges and scientific collaboration. The visit included tours of the university’s Anatomy Museum and the Practical Training Center.
