A bilateral symposium between the University of Strasbourg in France and Jilin University (JLU) – located in Changchun, capital of Northeast China’s Jilin province – was held at JLU on May 21, 2024.
The symposium was chaired by SUN Junqi, Dean of JLU’s Graduate School.
Jean-François Lutz, Director of ISIS, along with officials from JLU’s State Key Laboratory of Supramolecular Structure and Materials, attended the symposium.
Remarks were delivered by ZHANG Xi, President of JLU and Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Paolo Samorì, Academician of the European Academy of Sciences and Former Director of the Institute of Supramolecular Science and Engineering (ISIS) at the University of Strasbourg.

JLU’s ZHANG called for in-depth discussions on the latest advancements in supramolecular science, shifts in research methodologies and practical applications for supramolecular engineering.
He also attached great importance to enhancing cooperation and exchanges between the two universities.
The symposium featured presentations from eight experts and scholars across various research fields – representing JLU’s State Key Laboratory of Supramolecular Structure and Materials and the University of Strasbourg’s ISIS – along with contributions from three graduate students.
Their findings covered topics such as the design and development of two-dimensional optoelectronic materials and multiscale simulation methods for polymers.

LIU Kun, Vice Dean of the College of Chemistry of JLU, and Paolo Samorì delivered a special lecture to the college’s undergraduates on an international cooperative training program for innovative talent – entitled Construction, Properties and Applications of Supramolecular Functional Assemblies.
