From May 20 to 22, 2024, ZHAO Hongwei, Vice President of Jilin University (JLU), led a delegation to visit universities in the United Kingdom.

The delegation visited the University of Manchester and the University of Glasgow with the aim of deepening collaboration in talent cultivation and scientific research across key academic disciplines.

At the University of Manchester, ZHAO met with Vice President Martin Schröder and Assistant Vice President Allan Pacey, signing three dual-degree program agreements in materials science, life sciences and related subjects.

The delegation also engaged in discussions with representatives from the University of Manchester, and the two sides reached a consensus to enhance cooperation in talent cultivation and scientific research.

At the University of Glasgow, the delegation held talks with William Cushley, Assistant Vice Principal (International). Cushley expressed interest in exploring new academic collaborations and expanding cooperation in talent cultivation and scientific research. ZHAO emphasized the importance of cooperation in veterinary medicine, electronics, and mechanical engineering. Both universities agreed to strengthen student exchanges and joint research initiatives in related areas.
