JLU research team paper wins global-rated award in UK

2024-06-19

A research team led by Professor ZHAO Hongwei from Jilin University (JLU) recently won a much-prized international accolade.

The JLU team was awarded the IEEE TIM 2023 Andy Chi Best Paper Award at the recent International Instrumentation and Measurement Technology Conference (IEEE I2MTC) – held in the city of Glasgow, Scotland, the United Kingdom.

The team paper was entitled A Novel Composite Deformation Measurement Method of Materials Under Coupling of High-Temperature and Hybrid Tensile–Flexural Loads – with Dingxing Scholar and postdoctoral fellow ZHAO Jiucheng from the School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering as the first author.

The paper presented a novel measurement method to obtain the composite deformation of materials under coupling of high temperature and hybrid tensile–flexural loads.

The study has revealed the coupling effect between tension, flexural dynamics and high temperatures on the composite deformation of typical aero-engine blade materials (in the Ti-6Al-4V and Inconel 718 alloys).

The IEEE I2MTC, organized by the IEEE Instrumentation and Measurement Society, is the top-tier international academic conference held in the field of instrumentation and measurement technology, with a 39-year history.

This year’s session attracted nearly 500 scholars from countries including China, the United States, the UK and Germany.

The award-winning paper from JLU was selected from 1,714 papers published in the IEEE TIM journal in 2022, making it the only paper to receive the award in 2023. With the achievement, JLU became the sixth Chinese university to win the honor.
