2024-04-18

The Jilin University (JLU)–University of Cambridge Academic Symposium took place at JLU on April 16, 2024.

A delegation from the University of Cambridge, led by Professor Michael Sutcliffe, Head of the Mechanics, Materials, and Design Division of the Department of Engineering, attended the symposium.

He shared his research in areas such as medical engineering, bioengineering, biomedical engineering, and the mechanical properties of materials.

Representatives and faculty from JLU’s schools and laboratories, including the School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, School of Materials Science and Engineering, Key Laboratory of Bionic Engineering, MOE, and more, also presented their research during the symposium.

Both sides also engaged in in-depth discussions on topics related to medical engineering and interdisciplinary research, reaching a consensus on future collaboration in student training and joint research.

As part of the visit, Professor Sutcliffe delivered a lecture titled Applying an Engineering System Thinking Approach to Design and Improving Complex Systems, which attracted nearly 100 faculty members and students.
