Led by BIAN Tie, JLU Vice President, a delegation visited Macquarie University and the University of Southern Queensland from Nov 27 to Dec 1, 2023.
The aim was to boost practical cooperation and experience exchanges in campus planning, asset management and infrastructure development.
During the visit to Macquarie University, BIAN held discussions with Deputy Vice-Chancellor Simon Handley, reviewing existing collaborative efforts in fields such as science, engineering, and medicine.
He proposed expanding their partnership into emerging disciplines like geosciences and medical research, aiming to foster joint academic exchanges and student training programs.
Handley praised the long-standing existing cooperation between the two – particularly in audiology – and expressed his eagerness to deepen ties in interdisciplinary education and in social services.
At the University of Southern Queensland, BIAN met with Deputy Vice-Chancellor Michael Thomas. They discussed advancing collaborations in agriculture, emergency medical care and sports health – as well as expanding platforms for language instruction and nursing education.
Thomas emphasized his university's commitment to strengthening partnerships with JLU across multiple disciplines.
The delegation also toured various facilities, including the Australian Hearing Center and campus infrastructure, further underscoring its intent to enhance academic and operational synergies between the institutions.
