ZHANG Xi, President of Jilin University (JLU), attended the 2023 Global University Presidents’ Forum held at Northeast University on Sept 15, 2023.

With the theme of "Leading the Future Through Transformation and Innovation: Challenges and Missions of Higher Education in the New Era," the forum aimed to foster dialogue about new models for the future development of universities.

ZHANG delivered a keynote speech at the forum. He introduced JLU's history and development strategy and shared insights on integrating research and education practices.

He emphasized that the fundamental task of a university is talent cultivation, which should be promoted through building a high-level faculty, conducting high-quality research, and enhancing academic exchanges domestically and internationally.

JLU is committed to integrating teaching and application and cultivating students' comprehensive abilities to analyze and solve problems. Over the past 77 years, the university has cultivated over 700,000 alumni who have significantly contributed to technological advancement and socio-economic development worldwide.
